Out and About - Antique cars putter into town
A parade of two-cylinder antique cars puttered into Alexandria on Friday, June 15 and made one of their first stops at the Douglas County Historical Society.
The group of friends and aficionados rolled in, driving two-cylinder Maxwells, REOs, Buicks and Cadillacs and even a Stanley, powered by its external combustion engine. The cars were manufactured anywhere from 1906 to 1912 and have since been restored and cherished.
One of the drivers, Ed Walhoff of Spicer, said it's an opportunity to get together and "talk smart and drive cars."
