The Otto Bremer Foundation, majority owner of Bremer Bank, recently awarded $80,000 to United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties, based in Alexandria.

The funds will be used to help provide solutions for families experiencing homelessness in the Alexandria area and will be spread out over two years.

United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties, along with The Salvation Army and West Central Minnesota Communities Action, is entering the implementation phase of the House Keys project.

The project allows families experiencing homelessness to be housed and supported by extensive case management. This model is intended to assist families in Douglas County in obtaining the skills and resources needed that will promote ongoing stability.
