The Osakis volleyball team won its second Prairie Conference match of the season in straight sets in a 3-0 win over West Central Area on Tuesday night.

The Silverstreaks (7-4, 2-0) had too much depth for the Knights (3-1, 1-1) to overcome after WCA got off to a fast start. They couldn't sustain that as Osakis won 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17 to move to 2-0 in league play and 7-4 overall.

"Osakis is a talented team and a strong program," WCA head coach Beth Hill said. "To be honest, I think a loss is a good thing for us. This has been a great start to the season, but we've played up and down thus far and have gotten away with it in wins. Tonight's loss is going to force us to change and see how significant those ups and downs can be."

Osakis got a little bit from everybody in running away with the match. Annalise Savageau did everything, finishing with six kills, 17 assists, two aces, 16 digs and three blocks. Brooke Sorenson added 12 kills and 12 digs and Brittney Sadlemyer added eight kills, three assists, one ace and 14 digs. That's the kind of versatility head coach Kirsten Wessel likes about this team.

"It's nice to see the girls being able to step in and play at any point during the match and we don't miss a beat," she said.

Holly Van Kempen led the Knights with five kills, 11 digs, five solo blocks and three block assists. Tiana Christenson added five kills, four block assists and seven digs, while Christina Kruize had a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.

"It helps us to see some areas in which we can improve upon and, as a result, become a better team," Hill said. "This is a good time in the season to work through some minor changes that will strengthen us. We are working to develop a winning mentality and the confidence that we can not only play with but beat these quality teams."
