Osakis volleyball team beats Browerville 3-0
The Silverstreaks had the opportunity to celebrate a 3-0 victory and a significant milestone in their match against Browerville last Tuesday in Osakis.
The Silverstreaks moved to 4-0 against conference opponents this season and senior Annalise Savageau reached her 1,000th career assist. Head coach Kirsten Wessel said Savageau has been playing on the Silverstreaks varsity team since she was in eighth grade.
“We are really going to miss her not being around next season, but it’s way too early to be thinking about that,” Wessel said. “We have a lot of season left and we are happy that we have such a well-rounded player as Annalise.”
Savageau had quite a battle to get to 1,000 assists as the Silverstreaks run an offense that uses two setters instead of one.
“It’s tough for a setter to get 1,000 set assists when we run a 6-2 offense,” Wessel said.
Brittney Sadlemyer led the Osakis offense with 12 kills in the match, and Brooke Sorenson was second with 11.
Mackenzie Staloch led the Silverstreaks with 19 assists. Breanna Larson led the defense with 16 digs.
Wessel said she is happy with the improvement that Sadlemyer has achieved this season.
“Brittney Sadlemyer is continuing to improve her timing on offense and tonight really connected on quite a few hits,” Wessel said. “It’s fun to watch her keep improving every match.”
Wessel was also impressed with the well-rounded play of Brooke Sorenson, who nearly led the team in kills, digs and blocks on Tuesday.
“She has become a great all-around player,” Wessel said.
The next match for the Silverstreaks is this Monday against Minnewaska.
