The Osakis tennis team continued its reign of the Hi-Way 10 tournament by winning the event for the fourth year in a row last Wednesday.

The Silverstreaks’ depth prevailed as they held off ninth-ranked Staples-Motley by three points, winning with a team total of 58.

“The girls played great today,” head coach Ryan Maddock said. “We held off a very strong Staples-Motley team for the title. It really was an amazing day to have every girl win their first-round match and to have all top three finishes.”

The Silverstreaks had a couple of first-place finishes out of their doubles lineup. The combination of Morgan Silbernick, Ashley Kraemer and Carley Uhlenkamp won at third doubles. Missy Weir, Krista Fearing and Jenna Fearing did the same at fourth doubles. Katie Anderson and Elyse Wiener and Peyton Garcia and Katelyn Foster took second at first and second doubles, respectively.

The singles lineup was anchored by Hannah Baker, Alexa Hoffarth and Hanna Szech finishing as runners-up at the second, third and fourth spots, respectively. Top singles player Taylor Kraemer wrapped things up with a third-place finish to help Osakis secure the team title.

Osakis made things look easy on their way to a 6-0 record with three 7-0 wins at the Long Prairie quadrangular.

“We had a very good day today in winning all of our matches,” head coach Ryan Maddock said. “I thought all of our girls have shown improvement. We have a very balanced and talented team and it is starting to show up more in matches we play.”

Taylor Kraemer anchored the singles lineup with three straight-set victories on the day. Hannah Baker, Alexa Hoffarth, Hannah Szech and Ashley Kraemer all followed suit in the singles lineup with at least one win apiece in singles.

Of Osakis’ 21 wins, 19 came in just two sets. Katie Anderson and Peyton Garcia persevered in a third set against LPGE/USA to win 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 at first doubles. Elyse Wiener then joined Anderson to do the same against Benson-KMS, winning 6-1, 4-6, 10-7.
