Osakis tennis stays undefeated against Staples-Motley

It was not easy, but the Osakis girls tennis team improved to 9-0 this season with a win in an away match against Staples-Motley last Tuesday.

The Silverstreaks won 4-3 over likely one of their toughest opponents on the schedule in Staples-Motley. In the most recent coaches poll, the Silverstreaks were ranked second in the state among Class A teams and Staples-Motley was ranked 10th.

"This was a great match for us today, as it was good for our girls to be in such competitive matches," head coach Ryan Maddock said. "I thought all of our girls showed improvement today in their play and their toughness."

The Silverstreaks third singles player Alexa Hoffarth and fourth singles player Hannah Szech both won in three sets. Hoffarth won 6-3, 2-6, 7-5, and Szech finished 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Silverstreaks second doubles team of Elyse Wiener and Peyton Garcia won 6-1, 6-3, and the third doubles team of Morgan Silbernick and Ashley Kraemer won 6-2, 6-0.
