Osakis tennis rolls in 6A opener

The Osakis tennis team rolled over Morris on Wednesday morning to move into the Section 6A semifinals with a 7-0 win.

The Silverstreaks gave up just four games in singles play and won every match in straight sets throughout their lineup. Taylor Kraemer and Hannah Szech each won 6-0, 6-0 at first and fourth singles, respectively. Hannah Baker won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles and Alexa Hoffarth took the third singles spot 6-1, 6-0.

The doubles teams won in similar style with Katie Anderson and Katelyn Foster taking care of business with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the first spot. Elyse Wiener and Peyton Garcia teamed up at second doubles to win 6-2, 6-2 and Morgan Silbernick and Ashley Kraemer rounded out the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win at third doubles.

The top-seeded Silverstreaks will take on fourth-seeded Sauk Centre at 8 a.m. on Thursday at Fitness Evolution in Sartell after the Mainstreeters beat West Central Area 7-0.  Melrose and Minnewaska will play each other in the bottom half of the bracket. Melrose won 6-1 over Benson-KMS and Minnewaska beat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-USA 7-0 in the semifinals.

The section-title match will be played at noon on Thursday.
