Osakis' Kraemer, Minnewaska doubles advance to state tennis
Osakis' Taylor Kraemer left no doubt about who is the top singles player in the Section 6A field by rolling through her competition on her way to a section individual title on Tuesday evening.
Kraemer never dropped a game through her two matches yesterday as she beat Maggie Buyck of Benson-KMS in the semifinals and Bethany Ellis of Sauk Centre in the finals by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Kraemer has anchored the Osakis singles lineup all season from the No. 1 spot and will now get a chance to test herself against the state's best Class A singles players next week on top of going to the state tournament as a team with the Silverstreaks.
Minnewaska ruled the doubles competition as the Lakers will send two teams to state after Jada Hoffman and Ellen Stensrud faced off against teammates Rachel Riley and MaKenna Hanson in the finals yesterday. Hoffman and Stensrud won that match 6-2, 6-2 to take the title. They beat Osakis' Katie Anderson and Alexa Hoffarth in the semifinals to reach the championship match. Riley and Hanson beat Grace Brang and Madison Rausch of Melrose 6-3, 6-3 in their semifinals match.
