The Osakis football team came up short on a two-point conversion late in the game and fell to 1-2 with a 14-12 loss against United North Central last Friday night.

Osakis took that 6-0 lead into the second quarter before the Warriors got their first of two long passing plays to set up a touchdown. Ben Skoog caught a post pass over the middle and broke a tackle on his way to a 60-yard gain. That set up the tying touchdown as the two teams went into the break tied at six apiece.

UNC finally took its first lead in the fourth quarter. Once again, it was Skoog who made the big play as he caught another long pass over the middle that set his team up with great field position. The Warriors took advantage to score the go-ahead touchdown. The successful two-point conversion that followed proved to be the game winning points.

Osakis responded to that with a strong drive of its own. Nikolaj Hagen topped off the drive with his second touchdown of the night around the two-minute mark. The ensuing two-point conversion came up short, though, as the Warriors regained possession and ran out the clock to secure the win.

Hagen had a big night with 170 yards on 29 carries. It wasn't enough, though, as the loss dropped the Silverstreaks to 0-2 on their home field this season. They will try to build on the positives of this game before taking on a 3-0 Ottertail Central team on the road tonight.

"We did a lot of things well in this game," head coach Bill Infanger said. "We showed a lot of improvement in our running game from the week before...We are a team with a 1-2 record right now, but we know that we were one play here or there away from being a 2-1 team."
