The Osakis boys finished with 44 team points at the St. John’s Invite to finish sixth out of the seven-team field. 

Maple Lake ran away with the event on the boys’ side with 252 points. Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball was the next closest finisher with 119 points.

Mitch Sunder had Osakis’ only first-place finish after winning the shot put. Sunder won with a toss of 40-00.50.

“Mitch had trouble marking a throw in the discus but did well again in the shot put,” head coach Lee VanNyhuis said.

The Osakis boys got four other individual top-eight finishes. Gage Larson was second in the 200-meter dash in 23.96. Brett Cowdery took third in the 400 (58.18), Grant Backes was second in the 1,600-meter run (4:56.06) and Jacob Backes was eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 30-09.75.
