The Osakis boys’ basketball team got off to a good start but couldn’t sustain that in a 45-34 loss to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Tuesday night.

The Silverstreaks shot just 33 percent for the game and turned it over 16 times. That turned an early lead into a seven-point deficit at the break that LPGE added to in the second half.

Osakis had just one player in double figures as Drew Fearing finished with 10 points. Zach Weir and Hunter Scherr each added five points apiece.

“We just need to maximize our possessions on offense and take care of the ball and stop shooting ourselves in the foot,” head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “Defensively, we need to grab the loose balls and work on post defense. Every game someone new steps up. Drew Fearing was our guy tonight both on offense and defense.”

The loss dropped Osakis to 2-5 overall and to 1-2 in the Prairie Conference.
