Open house to honor the history of Jefferson High School
To celebrate Jefferson High School’s (JHS) retirement at the end of this school year, Alexandria School District 206 will host an old-fashioned ice cream social and open house Sunday, May 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at JHS. The community is invited to attend.
The event will honor the school’s history of having served more than five decades of students and families. It will also display a photo slideshow of the Alexandria Area High School (AAHS) project and detail how the JHS site building and/or site may be redeveloped.
The event also provides school staff with a chance to say “thank you” to District 206 voters for their support of the Phase II building referendum in the autumn of 2011. It is providing funding for the construction of AAHS for grades 9-12.
AAHS will open this fall for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
