Online auction raises funds for youth programs
Going once, going twice, SOLD! Jefferson High School (JHS) marketing students are partnering with Lakes Area Recreation (LAR) for the seventh annual Bidding for Good campaign. This online auction features a variety of items contributed by local businesses.
Marketing students are given the chance to put the sales, advertising and promotional skills they've learned into action. They are hoping to raise $17,000, which would provide scholarships to underprivileged youth so they can participate in LAR sports programs.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the JHS marketing class. Proceeds from last year's auction allowed for about 500 youth scholarships to be given out.
HOW IT WORKS
People across the country will be able to view the auction website. Participating businesses provide links to their websites next to items donated so it's easy for anyone to bid.
As the auction approaches, there will be new items added to the catalog to preview. The auction runs March 19 through April 9. Businesses that would like to be part of this effort may call (320) 290-8537 to speak with a student.
