Olson withdraws from commissioner race; filing re-opens

Dan Olson, the incumbent Douglas County Commissioner in District 5, has withdrawn from the election, according to Douglas County Elections Administrator Vicki Doehling.

Pursuant to state law, the Douglas County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office will be extending the candidate filing period for county commissioner District 5 for five days (effective immediately).

The extended candidate filing period will expire on Tuesday, June 10 at 5 p.m. There will be a subsequent two-day candidate withdrawal period for county commissioner District 5 through 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12.

Former Alexandria Police Chief Chuck Nettestad filed for the District 5 commissioner post on June 3, the last day of the initial filing period.
