Oachs, Fernholz earn AAA Awards at WCA

West Central Area honored its male and female Academics, Arts and Athletics (AAA) Award winners recently with Kylee Fernholz and Jared Oachs being the recipients of those for the Knights.

Fernholz has a 3.925 GPA in the classroom. She is in choir and has competed in the solo/ensemble contest the last three years, receiving superior ratings the last two years. She has also been in the a capella choir the last three years and participated in band for two years and speech for three years.

Fernholz has been active in all three seasons in sports. She competed in cross country as a varsity member in the fall for the past six seasons. She was a team captain the last two years and has been all-conference for six years.

The senior has played four years of varsity basketball in the winter and spent two years as a captain. Fernholz will also enter her sixth year in track and field this coming spring. She has been on the varsity team since 7th grade and been an all-conference performer every season. She qualified for the state tournament the last two years.

Fernholz is also the treasurer of the National Honor Society and president of the Student Council at WCA. Fernholz is the daughter of Mark and Michele Fernholz.

Oachs has a 3.651 GPA in school and is a member of the choir, including the a capella choir the last three years. He has competed in the solo/ensemble contest the last three years, receiving superior ratings the last two years.

Oachs competed in football for six years. He played basketball for six years and five years in track and field during the spring season.

Oachs is a member of the National Honor Society, where he is the parliamentarian. He also serves as the president of the FFA. Oachs is the son of Doug and Kim Oachs of Herman.
