Norm graduated from Alexandria High School in 1945.

He met his lifes true love, Kathleen Anderson, at a dance in her hometown of Brandon. They married in 1949.

Norm was a Navy Station Keeper at the Naval Air Station in Minneapolis, where he and Kathleen made their home. They had four children.

Norm retired from the Navy after 20 years of service and then was employed as a building manager at several Twin Cities locations until retiring from Comserv in Eagan.

Norm spent his retirement years appreciating life with Kathleen at their home in Apple Valley. Norm loved retirement. An award-winning wood carver, he delighted in yard work and spending summers at their place at Kamp Kappy on Devils Lake. He loved fishing, painting, fixing anything that was broken, playing with his devoted four legged friend, Sadie, and cards with his good friend, Dave. Most of all, he cherished time with his family. He was always known to us as "Papa."

He was a long time parishioner of Risen Savior Catholic Church, where he was involved in several ministries with his wife Kathleen.
