Noonan pond is looking better
A lot of work has been put into returning Alexandria's Noonan Park to its cleaner state.
The pond that was once covered with algae and weeds is now beginning to clear up.
The city invested about $600 to have the park cleaned up and it is now beginning to show through.
Steve Volkey, of Creative Touch Landscape Design, helped aid in the cleaning of the pond. He kept up with regular treatments of the pond and continually monitored the pond's condition.
"He guaranteed 100 percent that this treatment would work," said Bill Thoennes, Alexandria park director. "He was right!"
The park used a copper sulfate to kill the algae and added bacteria to help eat up the leaves, mud, and other things that can cause a mess in the pond.
"The pond is really clearing up and looking a lot nicer," said Thoennes.
