Ninth annual Quilts Along the Trail show coming to Osakis
The talents and skills of central Minnesota quilters will be on display at the ninth annual Quilts Along the Trail show in Osakis on Saturday, September 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Displays include many varieties and time periods from antique and vintage to traditional and contemporary.
The exhibits and activities will line two blocks of the Central Lakes Trail near downtown Osakis. Several vendor booths, a quilter's flea market, a consignment sale, food booths and live entertainment will be part of the show.
In case of rain, visitors are invited to see the displays and challenge quilts at the Quilts Along the Trail Museum at 2nd and Main Streets in Osakis. Hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday through October 27.
Entries for exhibits can register until September 8. There is no entry fee and no judging. Items shown do not have to be made by the exhibitor to be eligible for display.
Quilts Along the Trail events include:
--A Make and Take workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
--The Bed Turning, featuring a presentation with quilts displayed on a bed.
--The Challenge Quilt Show features items done by local and regional quilters who have used the same fabric in a package of fat quarters. Of the 90-plus displays in two categories, no two quilts are alike. Some challenge items will be for sale.
--The Quilters Flea Market, which includes pre-cut fat quarters, other packaged quilt blocks, bags of usable scrap material and remnants, finished quilts and other quilted pieces, all at bargain prices.
Along with the main event, there will be live blue grass and gospel music by the Uffda Mountain Boys from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
