According to the state Highway Patrol, the truck, driven by a 19-year-old Cooperstown man, was about three miles northwest of McVille in Nelson County about 8:35 a.m., when the truck left the wet and slick road before rolling once in the ditch, ejecting the passenger, according to a press release from the patrol.

The name of the passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene, will be released once family members have been notified.

The driver of the 2000 Freightliner was taken to the McVille hospital, where he was treated and released. Neither man was wearing a safety belt, according to the press release.
