New school gets grants for surfacing 12-court tennis complex
The Alexandria Area Tennis Association (AATA), in partnership with School District 206, has received two grants for acrylic tennis court surfacing of the new Alexandria Area High School's 12-court tennis complex.
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) facilities grant provided $40,000 and the USTA Northern Section "Adopt-A-Court" grant awarded AATA $8,500.
"The goal of the grants is to provide communities access to safe, appealing and functional tennis environments," said Virgil Christian, director of community development and facilities at USTA. "The essence of this initiative is to assist communities by leveraging their tennis facilities to promote lifelong healthy activity and improve their programming by advancing the latest tennis innovations for all program types."
