Habitat for Humanity Douglas County (HFHDC) will host a Home for the Holidays open house where families can learn how partnership with Habitat may be able to help them realize their dreams of homeownership. The event is planned for Saturday, January 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The open house will be held at a Habitat home at 1013 Darling Avenue East in Alexandria, just east of Perry's Furniture. Families will be able to meet with Habitat staff and committee members who can answer their questions.

The families will be able to see a completed home and learn about the green building practices that Habitat uses to help create an energy efficient home, which means ongoing affordability for a family.

In 2012, four families realized their dreams of homeownership because of their partnership with Habitat. These families are quick to share how homeownership has already had a positive impact on them.
