A new exhibit showcasing four historic lodging properties that played key roles in the development of the local tourism industry is opening at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum in Alexandria. Three of these resorts and hotels are still in operation today.

The exhibits, founding year and sponsors include:

Peters' Sunset Beach Hotel (1915): The Peters' family, owners of Peters' Sunset Beach Resort in Glenwood.

The Letson House (1879): Virgil and Jeanne Batesole, owners of The Alexson Apartments.

Geneva Beach Hotel (1883): Carolyn and Tim Aarsvold, owners of Geneva Beach Resort.

Hotel Blake (1903): Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center. Hotel Blake is no longer in operation.

The Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of antique and classic watercraft, resort memorabilia and sporting equipment used on the Minnesota lakes.

The museum is open daily (except holidays) through mid-October. More information is online at www.mnlakesmaritime.org.
