The fair will run for four days, August 16-19.

"As always, the grandstand events are a big highlight," noted Dale Buchholz, Douglas County Agricultural Association secretary. "Something a little different this year though, is that during the Demolition Derby they are going to have monster trucks come out and crush cars."

In addition, the tractor and truck pull at the grandstand has been moved to Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

New entertainment will also be performing at the 4-H stage. With three new groups each day, some of the performers include Cassie and The Bobs, Dancin' Off Broadway and Sax Appeal.

"The other new attraction we will hopefully have done in time for the fair is the Log Cabin Native American Center next to Calorie Lane," Buchholz said.

The cabin will be home to numerous Native American artifacts donated by the Runestone Museum, as well as an Indian tribal leader who will be giving presentations each day of the fair.

This center was made possible by a grant.

"The grant also helped us to create a new children's tent across from the old schoolhouse at the fair," Buchholz noted.

Continuous children's games will take place here, including face painting, minnow races and piggy races, along with appearances from clowns and Ronald McDonald.

Dale added that other new attractions include a 4-H dog exhibit, DJ and karaoke on the mini stage, 2012 Senior Citizen of the Year award and new vendors on Calorie Lane.

"We made great strides this year," he said. "We really hope to have 50,000 people attend - it's a number we have always strived to reach - but I just hope to see everyone at the fair."
