Timothy R. Gilles, 22, of Clearwater is now charged with two counts of fleeing police in a motor vehicle resulting in death, two counts of third-degree murder and one count of fleeing police in a motor vehicle resulting in substantial bodily harm.

The chase began when Waite Park police tried to pull over Gilles, 22, who was wanted for a felony warrant on drug and assault charges.

The chase ended about a half-mile later when Gilles allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the driver's side of minivan driven by Timothy Casanova of Starbuck. Casanova, 30, was killed in the crash.

His passenger, Megan Thomsen, 22, of Glenwood, was also seriously injured. She was eight months pregnant and her child, Timothy James Thomsen, died two days later.

After the crash, Gilles fled on foot. Authorities caught up with him, tased him and placed him under arrest.
