Model T tour to roll into town
If you see a large group of Model Ts rolling down the Glacial Ridge Trail, don't worry - you haven't been transported back in time. What you're watching is the 2nd annual "Glacial Ridge Model T Tour."
The organizers of the event are planning for at least 50 restored Model Ts this year.
The tour will leave from Sauk Centre on Friday, September 4 and travel along the Glacial Lakes Trail through Lake Carlos State Park. They will also be stopping at Carlos Creek Winery at 4 p.m.
The group will be ending the day at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria at approximately 6 p.m.
On Saturday the tour will be leaving Alexandria around 9 a.m. and stopping in Starbuck. They will be traveling through the state parks of Glacial Lake, Monson Lake, and Sibley and spending the night at Holiday Inn in Willmar.
On Sunday, the group will be going through the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center and stopping at Terrace Mill and in Glenwood before continuing back to Sauk Centre.
The public will have an opportunity to view the cars in Sauk Centre before they leave and at Carlos Creek Winery on Friday afternoon. They will be at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria on Friday night and on Saturday morning. The vehicles can also be seen in Willmar and other communities along the route.
The travelers will also have a chance to experience the beauty and history of Glacial Ridge Trail Scenic Byway.
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Glacial Ridge Trail Association, the Kandiyohi Tourism Committee, the Willmar Convention and Conference Bureau, the Willmar Car Club, and other area chambers of commerce are sponsoring the event.
