Minnewaska tennis: Lakers improve to 15-1

The Minnewaska tennis The Minnewaska tennis team finished its regular season 15-1 after sweeping matches against St. John’s Prep and Perham this week.

The Lakers won their match against Perham on Tuesday convincingly as they did not drop a single set. Ellen Stensrud, Jada Hoffman, Hannah Freske and Myranda Thoen all won for Minnewaska in singles.

In doubles, Rachel Riley and Makenna Hanson won at No. 1, Joelle Thorfinnson and Annika Pederson won at No. 2 and Sarah Freske and Karissa LaMont won at No. 3.

The same singles lineup of Stensrud, Hoffman, Hannah Freske and Thoen also won two-set matches for the Lakers against St. John’s Prep.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Riley and Hanson and the No. 2 team of Thorfinnson and Pederson both won 6-0, 6-0. The third doubles team of LaMont and Emily Haus needed a third set tiebreaker to finish off the sweep.
