Minnewaska Laker boys’ basketball season ends in overtime

The Minnewaska boys saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion after a 74-73 loss to Paynesville Area in overtime of the 6AA South quarterfinals.

The Lakers put four players in double figures, but it wasn’t quite enough. Riley Thompson led the way with 24 points and six rebounds. Jayden Beecher added 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Matt McIver had 14 points and six rebounds and six assists and Austin Ostrander poured in 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

The Lakers had split with Paynesville through two games in the regular season, but the Bulldogs had a little more to secure Thursday’s win. Minnewaska wraps up the season with an 11-15 record overall.
