Racers in the third Modified heat of the evening lined up to head onto the track Saturday night during the Minnesota Modified Nationals. The 70-lap feature race will be run Sunday, with the winner taking home $10,001 to win. Sunday's action gets under way at 4 p.m.

The Minnesota Modified Nationals are under way at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria.

The event kicked off Friday night with open practice and time trials.

Racing action got under way Saturday at 6 p.m. with Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds racing, along with the featured Modified class, which is running qualifying heat races this evening. Racing action will resume Sunday at 4 p.m., with the final race being the Mod National 70-lap feature event.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Minnesota Modified Nationals. In honor of that milestone, the first place winner will take home a hefty prize purse.

"...we have decided to pay $10,001 to the winner to ensure that this event will be the largest paying WISSOTA Modified race in the history of the organization," noted organizer Chris Stepan of FYE Motorsports.
