Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum creates new position
As a gift to support the work being done at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum (MLMM), board member Dr. Duane Rost has underwritten a project coordinator position. Heidi Ryan will step into the position.
The coordinator will organize and oversee exhibits, exhibit set up, educational components, advertisement, public relations and other contacts.
As a long term benefit, the coordinator will develop a protocol and plan that outlines the organization and delivery of future projects. This summer, the museum will host an art exhibit on loan from the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ryan, a native of Iowa, has lived in Alexandria since 1990. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Iowa, and has worked in the health care field for nearly 30 years.
She coordinated facility start-ups for Nelson Gables and Grand Arbor and served as director of nursing at one or the other for 17 years.
Ryan has been a volunteer with District 206, United Methodist Church, the Women and Wellness Committee and PEO.
Ryan is married to Ken Ryan and has two children: Katherine, 23, and Colin, 21. She likes gardening, good books, bike trails and kayaking area lakes in her free time.
“Heidi is well respected in the community, well organized and a pleasure to work with,” said Bruce Olson, MLMM executive director.
