Men’s Chorus to give concert March 23
The Alexandria Area Men’s Chorus will perform a vocal concert featuring music of various styles on Sunday, March 23 at 4 p.m.
A reception will follow in the parish hall. The performance is open to the public free of charge. Free will donations will be accepted to benefit the Douglas County Food Shelf.
The Men’s Chorus is approximately one year old, having begun in March 2013 with Paul Anderson spearheading the project.
Wanting to develop a group for men who simply enjoy singing, Anderson began by contacting area churches, music directors and other sources in a search for voices for the ensemble.
The choral group is under the conductorship of Steve Dietz and has a current membership of approximately 30 vocalists.
The musical repertoire originally consisted of sacred titles. However, the music has since expanded to include spirituals, show tunes, barber shop and more.
Since its formation last year, the chorus has made appearances at various area churches and a variety of other venues.
Chorus members come from many backgrounds, and it is open to any men who love to sing.
