Gabe McKeown of Lenexa, Kansas had to settle for a runner-up finish in the 2013 Junior 10-12 Division of the Resorters Tournament.

On Saturday, he made sure he took it one step further to secure a tournament title by beating Davis Johnson of Chaska. McKeown had everything working in the title match as the 12-year-old shot even par throughout the 4-3 win.

He used a par win on 11 to grab his first lead of the morning. That was the first of four straight holes that McKeown won after par wins on Nos. 12 and 13 preceded a birdie win on the par-5 14th.

Johnson couldn’t get his game going on Saturday after winning the day before with a dramatic 20-foot putt that punched his ticket to the finals. His only par came on the 15th hole, but that’s where things ended after McKeown matched that par to finish off the title.
