Max Jacobson selected as ExCEL Award recipient
Jefferson High School in Alexandria recently announced that the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) selected Max Jacobson as a 2014 Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership (ExCEL) Award recipient. Jacobson is one of 32 students selected in the state.
Jacobson is the son of Tom and Joni Jacobson. He is active in tennis and swimming. He participated in the state swim tournament last year.
Fine arts involvement includes orchestra, jazz band and rainbow strings. Jacobson is an “A” honor roll member, a Spotlight on Scholarship athlete, a member of the Student Council, and served on the new high school advisory committee.
Outside of the school day, Jacobson is active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, his church and Alexandria Fire Fighter Explorers.
Chad Duwenhoegger, JHS principal, said, “Max is a humble and respectful leader who encourages others and brings intensity and determination to be the best on a consistent basis. Max is highly respected by his peers and is a great role model for individuals of all ages.”
A profile of Jacobson will be aired during the broadcasts of all the televised state tournaments on KSTP Channel 45.
The MSHSL will post photographs and a student bio of Jacobson and the other 31 students on its website, mshsl.org. They will also be featured in the spring issue of the MSHSL Bulletin magazine.
