Mary Karsky, 85

Mary Karsky, 85, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

Mary was born June 16, 1928 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Anton and Rosie (Sadowsky) Volesky. She was raised on a farm northwest of Dickinson and attended New Hradec School.

Mary was wed to Laudie F. Karsky on June 4, 1947 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, North Dakota. To this blessed couple, nine children were born.

Mary and Laudie farmed until 1953 near New Hradec and then moved into Dickinson where they owned and operated Carter Oil Bulk Station. They moved their family to a farm near Clinton, Minnesota, the spring of 1962.

Marys priorities were her faith, family and friends, and always in that order! She loved to cook, garden, dance, sew, quilt, embroider, crochet and do laundry. (She was still concerned a week ago Monday that she hadnt done laundry in awhile!) Her family meant everything to her and she was always telling everyone how proud she was of each one. Her grandchildren were very important to her. They all loved eating Grandmas food and playing "Hand and Foot" with her. In recent years, her great-grandchildren brought her much joy.

Mary and Laudie moved to Alexandria in the spring of 1986. Mary still kept quite busy with her hobbies, volunteering at the hospital, doing in-home visits, working as a cook at the local schools, cleaning homes for others and leading the rosary at daily Mass.

She is survived by her children, Diane Belling of South Carolina, Dale (Donna) Karsky of Custer, SD, Deborah (Thomas) Stotesbery of Redwood Falls, Donald (Patricia) Karsky of Clinton, Dona (Ronald) Pachan of Alexandria, Douglas (Teresa) Karsky of Redwood Falls, Delene (Douglas) Reis of Garfield, Darwin (Patti) Karsky of Clinton, Daryl (Laura) Karsky of Jordon; 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Robert (Tillie) Volesky, of Dickinson; Elsie Steffan of Graceville, Francis Marsh of Dickinson, Betty (Donald) Kudrna of Stanly, ND, Ben (Evelyn) Volesky of Dickinson, Florian (Gladys) Volesky of Dickinson, Rose Mary Kovash of Dickinson, Raymond Volesky of Bismarck, ND; many in-laws; and a multitude of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laudie; parents; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 21 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Tom Belling, Patrick Karsky, Christopher Karsky, Andrew Stotesbery, James Pachan, Michael Karsky, David Reis, Kade Karsky and Derek Karsky. Entombment was at St. Marys Cemetery in Alexandria.
