Martime Museum partners with Smithsonian to offer free admittance Saturday
The Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum and Gardens will open its doors free of charge to those
presenting a Museum Day Live! Ticket on Saturday September 28, as part of Smithsonian
Magazine’s ninth annual Museum Day Live!
This is a nationwide event.
Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of
knowledge accessible to everyone, giving museums across all 50 states the opportunity to emulate the
admission policy of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C.
“We are thrilled to be a participant in the Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day,:" said Bruce Olson, museum director. "The Minnesota Lakes
Maritime Museum and Gardens celebrates our lake traditions and legacies, and is committed to their
preservation for future generations. Our guests will discover classic boats, grand hotel and resort
history, fishing memorabilia, the very popular Duck Boat Exhibit plus our beautiful garden which is
adjacent to our building. You will also learn about Gar Wood who grew up in Oaskis and went on to
worldwide fame as a boat builder and racer.”
The Museum Day Live! Ticket is available to download at
www.Smithsonian.con/museumday. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live! Ticket will gain free
entrance for two at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum and Gardens. One ticket is permitted per
household, per email address. Only those with printed tickets will receive free admission.
