Marlin Manzke, 64

Marlin Manzke passed away at his home in Brandon on August 4, 2014 at age 64.

Marlin was born December 11, 1949 at Fairmont Community Hospital, son of Harold and Fern (Plath) Manzke.

Marlin attended school in Armstrong, Iowa, until third grade when the family moved to a farm near Welcome, Minnesota. He graduated from Welcome High School in 1968 and attended Jackson Vo-Tech, where he studied to become an electrician.

Marlin was married to Kathleen Voigt on December 29, 1972. They were blessed with two children, Travis and ShanaLynn.

Marlin worked as an electrician at Armor Foods, K&W Electric and Harsco Track Technologies before retiring in 2008.

After retirement, Marlin and Kathy moved to their lake home near Brandon, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. They spent the winters at their home in Queen Creek, Arizona, where they enjoyed spending time in the pool and having pool parties.

Per Marlins wishes, a celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kortes Bar and Grill in Welcome.

Marlin is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Voigt) Manzke; son, Travis and wife Mistie Manzke and granddaughter Claire of Thompson, ND; daughter, ShanaLynn Manzke and fianc David Scalise of Gilbert, Arizona; brother, Arlo and wife Rosanne Manzke; sisters, Ardis and husband Leon Schleininger, Lois Martinez, Jane and husband Ralph Thorne; mother-in-law, Eunice Voigt; brothers-in-law, Larry and wife Judy Voigt, Allan and wife Patricia Voigt; sister-in-law, Jollene and husband Keith Larson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Fern Manzke; brother, James Manzke; and father-in-law, Kenneth Voigt.

In lieu of flowers, please designate memorials to Hospice of Douglas County or The Martin County Conservation Club.
