Marian Iverson, 87

Marian Iverson, 87, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Fergus Falls.

Marian was born December 28, 1926 at St. Lukes Hospital in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Frank and Luetta (Abendschein) Schreiber of Western Township, Otter Tail County. She was baptized, received First and Second Communion and confirmed at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church by Father B.H. Wessling.

She attended rural school District #56 in Western Township and the Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1945. After graduation she worked as an assistant bookkeeper at Hintgen-Karst Electric Company in Fergus Falls.

Marian and Harris Iverson were married April 25, 1947 in Fergus Falls, by Father B.H. Wessling. After a brief employment with "Muggs" Townsend at carnivals in Iowa, they returned to Western Township to take over the Schreiber farm.

Harris and Marian farmed there until April of 1965. In the fall of that year, Marian began working in the principals office at the Fergus Falls Senior High School. She worked there until 1971 and then they moved to Alexandria. Her next employment was at Jefferson High School in Alexandria as a teachers aide in the English and Social Studies department. Her job there was discontinued due to government cutbacks in 1982.

At that time, Marian became editor of the Family Pages at Echo Press in Alexandria until retirement in 1993. She then worked for her niece as bookkeeper for Professional Real Estate Service in Alexandria from 1993 to 1995, when she once again retired.

Marian enjoyed all her jobs and made many friends, no matter where she went. Although Marian and Harris did not have any children of their own, she loved her nephews and nieces.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Iverson; her sister, Florence Stock; her parents; as well as a nephew, Bob Stock.

She is survived by her sister-in-law (Harriss sister), Violet Lien of Moorhead; as well as 23 nieces and nephews and many, many great- and great-great nieces and nephews, maybe even some great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Marians wish was to be buried near the farm. "Being buried near the farm means a lot to me as Im a country girl at heart."

Memorials are preferred to Western Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund.
