Many child car seats installed incorrectly

To the editor:

Traffic injuries are the leading cause of avoidable injuries and deaths among children in the United States. Safe Kids Worldwide says, “Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent.”

You should always inspect your car seat because 73 percent of child car seats are not properly installed. You should read your car seat instruction manual to properly install the car seat.

Children are always watching you so remember to be a good example and buckle up. Safe Kids Worldwide states: “Buckling up the right way on every ride is the single most important thing a family can do to stay safe in the car.”
