Man injured in vehicle fire in Alexandria

A vehicle fire in Alexandria this afternoon caused burn injuries.

Alexandria firefighters responded to the scene on 6th Avenue near Maple Street at about 2 p.m.

No official report has been released yet but witnesses on the scene said that flames were shooting out of the sports utility vehicle and the fire may have ignited from a can of hairspray.

A person who was inside the SUV was treated at the scene for burn injuries. North Ambulance responded, along with the Alexandria Police Department.
