Major General Gerald Lang to speak at Veterans Day program
A special Veterans Day program will be held at the Living waters Church in Alexandria on Sunday, November 11 at 2 p.m.
Guest speaker Major General Gerald Lang will present the Veterans Day address. Following the address, refreshments will be served.
Lang is the assistant deputy commanding general for the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) at its headquarters at the Redstone Army Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
Born in Milaca and a 1970 graduate of Milaca High School, he joined the Army in 1971 and completed basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and AIT at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in strategic management.
Lang attended OCS and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in 1976 and served as a platoon leader and company XO in the 747th Maintenance BN at Alexandria, Princeton, Camp Ripley and Co. F 2nd BN School Brigade at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He has commanded at the company, battalion and brigade level.
Some of Lang's military decorations include the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Over Seas Ribbon with two stars and more.
Lang and his wife, Ingrid, live in Sauk Rapids and have two daughters, Linnea and Erika.
