LRAC offers support grants to arts organizations
The Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC) will offer tier I and tier II operating support grants to community arts organizations.
Tier I operating support grants are available to any community arts organization with annual operating expenses of less than $60,000. Tier II operating support grants are available to organizations with annual operating expenses greater than $60,000 and less than $140,000.
To be eligible, the organization must have federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status and be located in the LRAC region of Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin counties.
The grants are one-year awards that can be used for staff salaries, purchase of equipment, building projects or other general operating expenses.
Tier I grant requests may be for 10 percent of the organization's most recently completed fiscal year's actual operating expenses, up to a maximum of $5,000 per year.
Tier II requests are not based on a percentage of operating expenses, but are requests for operational needs up to a maximum of $1,700.
An online grant writing workshop is set for Wednesday, February 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the LRAC offices in Fergus Falls. There is no fee. Registration is required by February 18.
Applications for the grants must be postmarked by midnight on Tuesday, April 5. If you want the LRAC staff to check the application for completeness or errors, it must be in the LRAC office prior to the deadline date. No further changes or corrections may be made to the grant application when it is received on or after the deadline date.
Funding decisions will be made by Tuesday, May 17.
Applicants must use current guidelines and applications forms, which are available from the LRAC office. Call 1-800-262-2787 or e-mail LRAC4@LRACgrants.org for information or the application packet.
