Lorna Zunker, 98

Lorna Irene Zunker, 98, Alexandria, formerly of Miltona, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Bethany Community Home.

Lorna was born March 10, 1916, to Oscar and Mae (Gunderson) Olson in Vining. She attended country school and graduated from Henning High School.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Zunker on February 3, 1938, in Vining. Following their marriage, they moved to Miltona Township where they farmed and raised their family.

Her husband, Ray died December 27, 1998. Lorna continued living on the farm until she moved to Bethany Community Home in Alexandria in 2009.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she brought roses to the church every Sunday for 32 years, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in Ladies Aid. Lorna enjoyed gardening and while raising her family, loved cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Marland and Kenneth; and granddaughter, Jennifer.

Lorna is survived by her two sons, Terry Zunker of Ely and Timothy (Julie) Zunker of Miltona; three daughters, Marilyn (Ted Tostlebe) Hanson of Story City, Iowa, Karen (Kennth) Tesch and Joni Zunker of Miltona; three sisters, Shirley Nelson of Fergus Falls, Dorothy (Art) Johnson of Enumclaw, Washington and Deloris (Robert) Herbramson of Vining; 10 grandchildren, Mark and Jon Hanson, Daniel and David Tesch, Michael and Derek Zunker, Timothy and Matthew Zunker, and Kristin and Sarah Peterson; 13 great-grandchildren, Erin, Jessica, Leah, Kari, Ryan, Trevor, Morgan, Sydney, Kinsley, Brevin, Kali, Jacey and Gracey; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Stockman officiating. Music was provided by organist, Deb Joachim and vocalists, Jon and Mark Hanson, accompanied by pianist, Lori Hanson. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Tesch, Mark Hanson, Jon Hanson, Derek Zunker and Tim Zunker Jr. Honorary pallbearers were her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
