Lois Hendricks, 92

Lois was born November 24, 1921 in Hudson Township, Douglas County, to Charley and Lily (Olson) Helms.
At age 19, Lois married Marvin Hendricks at the St. Nicholas Church parish house in Belle River on September 30, 1940. The couple started their life together by farming, moving to several different farms before settling on one just north of Osakis.
Lois was a member of the St. Nicholas parish and later joined the Immaculate Conception parish in Osakis. She also belonged to the Osakis Senior Citizens Club and volunteered often to run their popcorn wagon.
Besides being a doting grandma, Lois also took pleasure in sewing, reading, playing cards and going fishing. She had a wonderful green thumb for growing things, and especially enjoyed tending her beautiful rose bushes. Traveling was another activity she enjoyed and over the years she took several trips to Alaska to visit her family there. She was a kind-hearted, happy mother, grandma and sister who will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Lois is survived by a son and a daughter, Roger Hendricks of Portland, OR and Sharon (Philip) Messer of Osakis; four grandchildren, Shannon (Mitch) Zarbok, Janine (Pete) Mies, Ariana (Nathan) Reed, Derek Messer; eight great-grandchildren, Marissa, Shania and Austin Zarbok, Elizabeth Mies, Emery, Lily, Amelia and Ethan Reed; brothers, Roy (Hope) Helms and Orville "Sam" Helms, both of Fairbanks, AK; brothers-in-law, Robert Schlosser and Lloyd (Darlene) Hendricks, all of Osakis; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Miller of Washington, Vida Helms of Alaska, Glenda Helms of Colorado; many nieces and nephews.
