Sponsored by Alexandria Community Education, the play will feature 75 local youth, as well as two professional actors in the roles of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Scarecrow.

Featuring original music and script by Daniel Nordquist, The Wizard of Oz continues Prairie Fire Children's Theatre's tradition of presenting classic tales with a twist.

Based on L. Frank Baum's classic American fairy tale, Prairie Fire's version is set in contemporary America at the beginning, and it is from there that the tornado takes Dorothy over the rainbow to Oz.

Tickets are $4 and are available at the Community Education office in Woodland Elementary School at 1410 South McKay Avenue, Alexandria.
