Local woman inducted into DFL Women’s Hall of Fame
The Women’s Summit Committee chose Beth Jansen of Alexandria for induction into the 15th annual Minnesota DFL Women’s Hall of Fame as a Woman of Distinction. She was selected during a ceremony held on Sunday, June 8.
Jansen oversaw the county campaign office in Alexandria, incorporating new ideas and energy and supporting a state house candidate who lost by only one vote in a GOP-dominated area.
She currently serves as chair of the Senate District 8 DFL and is reorganizing and revitalizing it for the upcoming campaign season.
Her nominators shared that she has a gift for recruiting activists, identifying their strengths, and finding a niche for them to blossom and help the DFL grow.
The DFL Women’s Hall of Fame recognizes a broad range of female activists, both those new to the cause and trailblazers.
The Women’s Summit Committee offers two categories for the Hall of Fame:
The Rising Star category honors promising young women the committee believes will be future party leaders.
The Women of Distinction category honors women who have inspired, mentored and blazed the trail for those who came after.
