Local TV channel spotlights city council, school activities
The city of Alexandria and Alexandria School District 206 have formed a partnership to support, maintain, and operate Alexandria's local access channel (Channel 7 for Charter cable subscribers).
The mutual goal for this partnership is to improve communication with the broader community regarding city government and school district related matters.
Programming for Channel 7 will occur weeknight evenings, Monday-Friday.
Programming on Thursdays each week will be dedicated to government programming. The Alexandria City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month. The meetings will be recorded and played each Thursday following a city council meeting.
Programming on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature rebroadcasts of District 206 student band, orchestra and choir concerts; fine arts performances, athletic competitions; education foundation events; and community education activities.
Alexandria Community Television will also broadcast "One-on-One With Charlie." Each month, the program will feature Charlie Christopherson, a retired District 206 teacher with 33 years experience, having a one-to-one interview with a District 206 teacher.
The goal of the program is to celebrate teaching and share insights with residents about District 206 schools, educational programs and activities.
