Local television news is back on the air
Gardonville Cooperative Telephone and Excellent Multimedia have teamed up to create Lakes Area News (LAN), the local television news broadcast for the glacial lakes area.
News anchor Chelsea Nelson, an Alexandria native, hosted the premiere broadcast on November 7.
LAN will cover local stories stretching over seven counties: Otter Tail, Grant, Douglas, Stevens, Pope, Wadena and Todd. News will broadcast every day, with new features every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
This over the air channel can be watched on two different stations. Gardonville TV subscribers can watch on Lakes Area Local Access (LALA) Channel 4 or on Selective TV channel 21.4.
Viewers can always watch on demand on the LAN website at lakesareanews.tv.
Nelson is a graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria and earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) where she studied mass communications and political science.
During her senior year at SCSU, she earned an Emmy for an award-winning news broadcast. Her many hats at LAN include producer, news director and anchor.
