Local service to remember children who have died
A Worldwide Children's Memorial Day Candlelight Service will be held Sunday, December 11 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 221 7th Avenue West in Alexandria.
The event is non-denominational. Sign-in and memento arrangement will begin at 6 p.m., with the service starting at 6:30 p.m.
Parents, families and friends are invited to the event, which includes live music, poetry, memories and friendship.
The second Sunday of every December has been set aside as a special day to honor all children who died at any age from any cause.
Candles are lit around the world at 7 p.m. and remain lit until 8 p.m.
Display areas will be set up at the rear of the church for photos and small mementos.
A nursery will be available for all infants and small children during the service.
