Local playwright's work to be performed

As owners/operators of the hometown service station in the 1950s, Ray and Iver lead pretty ordinary lives. But life gets stirred up when someone spikes the punch at the 500 card club.

Written by Alexandria playwright Chuck Grussing, The Case of the Potent Punch will take the LAT stage on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Grussing will also direct and star in the show. Joining him on stage are Jim Thoreen, Rachel Barduson, Kat Liesemeyer, Philip Goellner and Scott Giannone, who will also perform sound effects. Bob Piotrowski is adapting, arranging and performing the music.


As the winter season's snow begins to melt, a man confesses to the murder of his mate, telling all to a detective without being asked. There's just one thing: there is no body.

Directed by Sharon Thalmann and written by Minnesota playwright Jeffrey Adams, Meltdown stars Lars Markeson, Kara Gerdes, Sharon Thalmann and Scott Giannone, who also provided sound effects. The show was recorded by Christy Meier.

The show will air on KXRA 1490 AM on Sunday, April 14 at 12:30 p.m.
