Local inventor featured on KARE 11 News
Dale Ekdahl of Alexandria and the company he works for, Outstate Data LLC of Elbow Lake, were featured on the KARE 11 News on May 8.
The news segment featured an apparatus invented by Ekdahl to rescue people who become trapped in grain storage bins. Ekdahl and his invention were featured in the August 8, 2012 issue of the Echo Press. That article, “Preventing death by grain bins,” can be viewed online at www.echopress.com.
Suffocation is the leading cause of death in grain bins. According to a Purdue University study, there were 180 grain bin deaths in the U.S. from 1984 to 2012. Eleven of those occurred in Minnesota.
Outstate Data LLC manufactures grain bin rescue tubes and trains people on how to effectively use them.
