Local Boy Scouts to ‘scout’ for food donations
Area Boy Scouts will go door-to-door to conduct the 26th annual Scouting for Food Drive. They will distribute door hangers starting Saturday, March 15 and will return to collect donated food on Saturday, March 22.
The food drive is a community stewardship project aimed at addressing the problem of hunger in the community in which the scouts live.
“It is up to the people of our community to make Scouting for Food a success and help our local food pantries feed those in need,” said Patrick O’Brien, Boy Scouts lakes district director.
In 2013, the Northern Lights Council’s Scouting for Food drive collected more than 90,000 pounds of food across its territory.
Donated food items may also be dropped off at the Boy Scouts’ community partner, Gate City Bank in Alexandria, from March 15 through March 31.
